Coach and minibus transfers at Budapest Airport (BUD)
Budapest Airport gives tourist buses their own Bus Terminal, only a minute or two away from the passenger terminals. That keeps the airport end simple. The permits start at the Castle District.
The Bus Terminal, 1 to 2 minutes from arrivals
The pickup point for tourist buses is the Bus Terminal, 1 to 2 minutes from the passenger terminals. Terminal 2A handles Schengen flights and 2B handles non-Schengen flights. Both are close to the Bus Terminal, so the walk is short either way. Tell the operator which one you land at, so the driver knows where your group will come out.

At the Bus Terminal, the first 10 minutes are free. For longer waits there is a separate Bus Parking area. In practice the coach sits in Bus Parking while your group clears passport control and collects bags, then moves to the Bus Terminal to load. Agree how the driver will know you are ready.
Do not confuse the public stops with your coach. The public 100E and 200E buses leave from the arrivals level, between 2A and 2B.
The BABU permit for Buda Castle
The drive into Budapest is about 20 km and takes 30 to 50 minutes. The Budavár protected zone around the Castle has its own rules. Coach entry there needs a permit through the BABU system, and only through BABU. The coach must follow the route approved in BABU, and overstays and deviations bring surcharges.
Within the Castle zone a coach may halt for 15 minutes, and only to set down or pick up. Plan the visit so the coach drops you, leaves, and comes back at an agreed time.
Parking and set-down around the Castle
Coaches park at designated spots on Attila út, on Palota út and on Alsó Mészáros utca. The set-down point is Ybl Miklós tér. For a hotel in District I, near the Castle, check with the operator whether the route enters the BABU zone. For hotels on the Pest side, in Districts V, VI and VII, ask where the coach can set down near the door.
