Coach Hire Amsterdam

Amsterdam keeps large coaches out of its centre. Plan around the S100 ring and the station coach stops and your group loses very little time.

The S100 ring and the 7.5-tonne limit

The rule dates from 1 January 2024: a coach over 7.5 tonnes cannot enter the centre inside the S100 ring without an exemption. Stadhouderskade, Nassaukade and De Ruijterkade are all part of the ring. Exemptions are kept for particular groups: performing artists, for example, or children under 12, elderly passengers and disabled passengers. An adult tour group or a conference party is unlikely to qualify.

The limit is by weight, not by seats. If getting inside the ring matters, ask whether a lighter vehicle under 7.5 tonnes is available for your numbers.

Using the edge-of-centre coach stops

Coach stops at Sloterdijk, Zuid, RAI, Amstel and Holendrecht stations put your group on the tram or metro network. The usual limit at a coach stop is 10 minutes; at De Ruijterkade Oost it is 15. RAI Amsterdam has coach stop H40 nearby. The Anne Frank House stop, H16, has been temporarily moved, so check its current spot before you plan a pickup there.

Pick the station on your hotel's side of town. Zuid and RAI suit groups staying in the Zuidas and RAI hotel district. Sloterdijk suits hotels around Sloterdijk itself.

Rules for buses in Amsterdam

Coaches over 7.5 tonnes need an exemption to enter the centre inside the S100 ring.
Rule in force since 1 January 2024; S100 includes Stadhouderskade, Nassaukade, De Ruijterkade.
Most coach stops allow 10 minutes; De Ruijterkade Oost allows 15 minutes.
Edge-of-centre coach stops include Sloterdijk, Zuid, RAI, Amstel and Holendrecht stations.
Exemptions only for groups such as children under 12, elderly, disabled, performing artists.

Schiphol: Koepelstraat and P41

From 2 September 2024 the Koepelstraat arrival passage has been the coach loading point. It is about 5 minutes on foot from the Schiphol Plaza arrivals area. The free P41 waiting area, about 10 minutes' drive from the terminal, holds coaches for up to 6 hours. Drivers get a room and a toilet there.

The coach waits at P41 and comes round once your group is through with bags. At busy times a host helps coach passengers find the stop. The drive from Schiphol to the centre is about 18 km and takes 20 to 40 minutes.

Keukenhof, Zaanse Schans and The Hague

Zaanse Schans is 25 to 40 minutes out. Keukenhof in Lisse is 40 to 60. The Hague and Rotterdam are about an hour each, so both fit one day.
