The Old City traffic zone and the Bus Web Shop

The Old City sits inside a special traffic zone that stretches to Pile and Boninovo from Ilijina glavica. Booking and payment go through the Bus Web Shop for 7+1, 8+1 and 9-30+ seat vehicles. That covers everything from a minibus to a full coach.

It is in force during the main season, and also for events and peak periods. The operator books your slot. Give them your times early, and tell them straight away if a ship arrival or a late lunch moves the plan.

Rules for buses in Dubrovnik

  • A special traffic zone covers the Old City from Ilijina glavica to Pile and Boninovo.
  • Vehicles with 7+1, 8+1 or 9-30+ seats must book and pay via the Bus Web Shop.
  • Booked tourist vehicles may stop only at the Pile and Ploce drop-off zones.
  • The zone applies in the main season and during events and peak periods.

Pile and Ploce: the only drop-off zones

A booked tourist vehicle can stop at two places only: the drop-off zones at Pile and Ploce. Fort Lovrijenac stands outside the western walls near Pile. Choose the zone nearest to where you want to start, and use the same one for collection so nobody goes to the wrong gate.

From there, the City Walls, the Stradun and the Rector's Palace are all on foot. Boats to Lokrum leave from the Old Town harbour.

Hotels in Lapad, Babin Kuk and Cavtat

If your hotel is in Lapad, Babin Kuk, Gruz or Cavtat, every visit to the Old City is a coach run with a booked slot. Plan the evening return the same way, with a fixed pick-up time at Pile or Ploce. Anyone with limited mobility should know the Old City is walked from the drop-off zone, so brief them before the day.

Airport runs and trips to Kotor and Mostar

The airport lies about 20 km from the Old Town, a drive of 30-40 minutes. Ston is about 55 km, an hour away. Montenegro's Kotor is about 90 km away; allow 2 to 3 hours, border included. Mostar, over the border in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is roughly 140 km off, and 2.5 to 3 hours with the crossing.

Both are cross-border days. Check that every passenger carries valid travel documents, and expect the border to set the pace.
