Coach and minibus transfers at Dubrovnik Airport (DBV)
The Old Town lies about 20 km from Dubrovnik Airport. Do not assume a standard coach bay here, and expect tight control of tourist vehicles in season. Sort both before you fly.
Settle the pickup point with the operator
Dubrovnik is one airport where you should not guess where the coach will be. Before the trip, ask the operator three things: where the driver meets the group, where the vehicle stands, and how passengers will recognise the driver. Write the answers down and send them to every passenger.
If the group arrives on more than one flight, agree whether the vehicle waits for everyone or makes two runs. That choice affects the quote.

The airport shuttle is not your coach
A scheduled airport shuttle serves Ploče Gate and Gruž bus station, taking about 35 minutes. Passengers who see it may think it is the group transfer. Tell them plainly that it is not, and that they wait for the driver the operator has named.
The Old City traffic zone and the Bus Web Shop
The Old Town is about 20 km by road, 30 to 40 minutes. Around the Old City there is a special traffic zone, stretching from Ilijina glavica to Boninovo and Pile. Vehicles need a paid booking on the Bus Web Shop if they have 7+1 or 8+1 seats, or anywhere from 9 to 30+. That catches a large van, not only a coach.
Once booked, a tourist vehicle may stop only in the drop-off zones at Ploče and Pile. The zone is in force during the main season, and at events and other peak times. For dates outside that, ask the operator what applies.
Hotels outside the walls, and trips over the border
Hotel areas include Ploče, Lapad, Babin Kuk, Gruž and Cavtat, as well as the Old Town. For an Old Town hotel, the vehicle stops at Pile or Ploče and you walk with your bags. Day trips cross borders: Kotor in Montenegro is about 90 km, 2 to 3 hours including the border, and it is about 140 km to Mostar, in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Keep passports with you on the coach.
