The ZTL Bus contrassegno: all of Florence, at all hours
Florence's ZTL Bus stretches over every built-up part of the city, at every hour. Coaches need a contrassegno, bought online, and must display it. Cameras have policed the zone since 1 July 2025. A parking fine now carries a knock-on penalty too: since 15 November 2025, one fine freezes permit purchases across the operator's entire fleet for 7 days.
That makes operators careful, and it should make you careful too. Keep to the agreed stops and times. A group that asks the driver for an unplanned stop is asking them to risk the fleet.
Where coaches stop and park in Florence
The drive is about 5 km, 15 to 25 minutes. Coaches can stop at Largo Vincenzo Giudice, Piazza Vittorio Veneto, Piazzale Michelangelo and Savonarola, the last for drop-off only. For parking, coaches use Piazzale Galileo, via Palazzeschi, Campioni del 56, or Viale XI Agosto (T2 Guidoni), which is open around the clock. Tram T2 links the airport with Santa Maria Novella, a ride of about 20 minutes, which suits anyone arriving apart from the group.
