Coach Hire Munich

Inside Munich's Altstadtring there is nowhere for a coach to park. The coach drops you off, leaves, and comes back to a drop-off zone to collect you.

Drop-off zones around the Altstadtring

Coaches cannot park within the Altstadtring. They set down at designated drop-off zones instead, each with a 20-minute limit, at Maximiliansplatz, Blumenstrasse, Karl-Scharnagl-Ring, Oskar-von-Miller-Ring and Frauenstrasse.

Pick the zone by your first stop. Frauenstrasse or Karl-Scharnagl-Ring serves the Hofbräuhaus. Karl-Scharnagl-Ring also serves the Residenz and the English Garden. Blumenstrasse is the one for the Viktualienmarkt.

Where the coach waits in between

In the centre, coaches park at ZOB Arnulfstrasse, at Olympiagelände, and at Hansastrasse 51, which takes about 40 buses. For long stays outside the zone, use the P+R bus stations at Messestadt-Ost and Fröttmaning. Coaches visiting the Deutsches Museum park at Erhardtstrasse 38.

Some sights look after coaches themselves. Coaches have their own parking at the Allianz Arena. Nymphenburg Palace has its own visitor parking. The Olympiagelände coach parking also serves BMW Welt, which is close by. Coaches for a Messe München fair use the P+R at Messestadt-Ost.

Rules for buses in Munich

  • Low emission zone inside the Mittlerer Ring bars high-emission vehicles.
  • No coach parking inside the Altstadtring; use designated drop-off zones (max 20 min).
  • Drop-off zones: Blumenstrasse, Frauenstrasse, Karl-Scharnagl-Ring, Maximiliansplatz, Oskar-von-Miller-Ring.
  • Long-stay coach parking outside the zone: Fröttmaning and Messestadt-Ost P+R bus stations.
  • Central coach parking: Hansastrasse 51 (about 40 buses), ZOB Arnulfstrasse, Olympiagelände.

The low emission zone inside the Mittlerer Ring

High-emission vehicles may not enter the low emission zone, which is everything inside the Mittlerer Ring. The whole old town sits inside it. Ask the operator to confirm the coach is cleared before the quote comes to you.

Oktoberfest and the Christmas market

Oktoberfest 2027 runs 18 September to 3 October at the Theresienwiese. There is no parking at the site. Hansastrasse raises its rate during the Wiesn, and ZOB Arnulfstrasse, though close, is usually full. Plan a set-down and let the coach wait away from the grounds. For rail, the closest stops are Hackerbrücke on the S-Bahn and Theresienwiese and Schwanthalerhöhe on the U4/U5, so a hotel near the right line may beat the coach on the way back.

On Marienplatz, the Christkindlmarkt opens on 20 November and shuts on Christmas Eve 2026.

Airport and Alpine day trips

From Munich Airport into the city is about 38 km, 40 to 60 minutes by road. The coach stops are 21 and 22, next to Terminal 2, and Terminal 1 passengers walk 5 to 10 minutes to reach them. Neuschwanstein and Salzburg are 1.5 to 2 hours each way. Dachau is under 40 minutes.

Can the coach wait outside the Hofbräuhaus?

No. It drops you at Frauenstrasse or Karl-Scharnagl-Ring, then parks outside the ring.

Where does the coach park during Oktoberfest?

Not at the Theresienwiese. Ask about Hansastrasse and the P+R bus stations instead.

Where do we meet the coach at Munich Airport?

Stops 21 and 22, which are next to Terminal 2.

Can we do Neuschwanstein and back in a day?
