Wait between terminals, then pull in
For longer waits, there are the paid car parks, or a free waiting area between the terminals where the maximum stay is 60 minutes. The driver waits there during baggage reclaim. Agree how the signal to pull in will be given, for example a message from the group leader once the bags are collected.
Level -1 of Terminal 1 is where the scheduled airport buses go. Your coach will not be there, so keep passengers upstairs.
Into Milan: Area C, Area B and hotel loading
The drive into Milan is about 50 km and takes 50 to 75 minutes. Restrictions in Area C, the centre, and in Area B apply on weekdays from 07:30 to 19:30. A tourist bus with over 9 seats is charged an Area C fare, and that fare covers parking in a bus area. Most of Milan lies inside Area B, which keeps polluting vehicles out, so check the coach meets the standard.
By the major sights, fast-rotation bays let a coach stop only for as long as passengers get on or off. At hotels, a temporary pass, issued free, gives up to 30 minutes to load. That is enough to unload bags at a central hotel if the group helps.
Fairs, the lakes and Linate
For Fiera Milano, out at Rho on the city's northwest side, ask for a direct run rather than one through the centre. From Milan, Lake Como is about 50 km, and a group can go there with bags on board. Some groups use Linate, about 7 km from the city, instead. Tell the operator which airport, and which Malpensa terminal, before the quote.
