Coach and minibus transfers at Munich Airport (MUC)
Munich Airport keeps coaches at two stops beside Terminal 2, while cars use the kerbside lanes. The city is about 38 km away, so plan the first day around the drive.
Coach stops 21 and 22 at Terminal 2
The long-distance coach stops are numbers 21 and 22, beside Terminal 2. Groups landing at Terminal 2 are close by. Terminal 1 has five modules, A to E, and from there the coach stops are a 5 to 10 minute walk. Give the operator your module as well as the terminal, and allow for the walk with luggage.
Kerbside lanes for cars and small vans
Pre-booked cars meet arrivals in the kerbside arrival lanes of the terminals. Terminal 2 has its arrival lane on Level 03 and its departure lane on Level 04. A vehicle may stop on a terminal forecourt for 10 minutes free of charge, up to twice a day. That covers a quick pickup when passengers are ready. It does not cover waiting, so the driver holds back and pulls in when you call.

The Altstadtring: drop-off zones, not parking
The drive into Munich takes 40 to 60 minutes. Within the Mittlerer Ring lies a low emission zone that high-emission vehicles may not enter. The Altstadtring has no coach parking inside it. Coaches use drop-off zones with a 20-minute maximum, at Maximiliansplatz, Blumenstrasse, Oskar-von-Miller-Ring, Frauenstrasse and Karl-Scharnagl-Ring.
So a group staying in the Altstadt is set down at the nearest zone and walks in. Frauenstrasse or Karl-Scharnagl-Ring serve the Hofbräuhaus. Blumenstrasse serves the Viktualienmarkt, and Karl-Scharnagl-Ring the Residenz as well. Twenty minutes is enough to unload people and bags, but only if everyone is ready at the door when the coach arrives.
Where the coach parks, and fair days
Between drops, the coach needs somewhere to park. Central options are Hansastrasse 51, with room for about 40 buses, ZOB Arnulfstrasse and the Olympiagelände. For long stays outside the zone, use the P+R bus stations at Messestadt-Ost or Fröttmaning. Fairs at Messe München in Riem have their coach parking at Messestadt-Ost P+R. During Oktoberfest, ZOB Arnulfstrasse is usually full, so plan another option.
