Seats, layout and luggage

A Mercedes-Benz V-Class carries 8 occupants at most. Its seating can be arranged in several ways, with benches, separate seats or luxury seats. Bags travel in the rear, and there is less room for them when every row of seats is in use. For six people with large cases, ask the operator whether the layout leaves enough room.

Trips that suit a van

The usual uses are roadshows, families, small VIP groups and executive airport transfers. On a roadshow with several meetings a day, a van can wait near each venue far more easily than a coach.

At airports it can use areas that coaches cannot. At Berlin Brandenburg, for example, the terminal pick-up zones take vehicles of 3.5 tonnes or less, so a van under that weight can collect in front of Terminal 1 while coaches go to Bus Stop B. Ask the operator to confirm the weight if it matters to your plan.

City rules that still apply

A van is not exempt from everything. Dubrovnik requires a Bus Web Shop booking for any vehicle with 7+1 or 8+1 seats while the zone is in force. In Milan, Area C and Area B restrictions run from 07:30 to 19:30, Monday to Friday. At Rome Fiumicino, chauffeur vehicles need booking ahead, as no rank exists to hire from. Ask the operator to check your route before you confirm.
