In Rome, a daily quota caps how many coaches reach the Vatican area, seven days a week, so secure St Peter's days early. The road from Lisbon to Fátima is about 130 km, 1.25 to 1.5 hours. From Barcelona, Montserrat is about 60 km, 1 to 1.25 hours. Notre-Dame in Paris reopened in December 2024. Central Paris is closed to tourist coaches, though, so plan a walk from the nearest coach bay.

The 12-day rule lets drivers postpone their weekly rest on a single international occasional service. That lets one driver stay with a group on a long tour abroad. A standard weekly rest lasts 45 consecutive hours, and in alternate weeks it may be cut to 24 hours. The operator plans around these rules. Your part is to share the full itinerary early, rest days included, so the plan fits.
Pace for older pilgrims
Many church groups include older members. Build in comfort stops and shorter days. After 4.5 hours of driving the driver must stop for 45 minutes or more anyway, so make that the lunch stop. If members use wheelchairs, ask about an accessible vehicle. In Rome, the ZTL BUS C exceptions include transport for disabled passengers.
Services and Mass in cities with coach bans
In Vienna, coaches cannot drive in the Innere Stadt, so St. Stephen's Cathedral is reached from a Ring set-down point. In Prague, the coach uses a stand on the edge of the historic centre. Allow walking time before a Mass or service, and a little more for slower walkers.
